Riad La Petite Maison

Riad or hotel in Fes: how to choose

In Fes, two kinds of lodging coexist: the riad, a restored traditional house in the heart of the medina, and the hotel, often in the new town. The choice mostly depends on what you are after.

Riad or hotel in Fes: how to choose

The riad: inside the medina

A riad is an old house arranged around a courtyard, with only a few rooms. You are in the middle of the old town, walking distance from everything, in a quiet and personal setting. The trade-off: no car to the door, stairs, and a small size.

The hotel: in the new town

New-town hotels offer parking, a lift, sometimes a pool and large capacity. But you are a 10–15 minute taxi ride from the medina, in the atmosphere of a modern city.

What La Petite Maison offers

Five rooms and one suite around a courtyard with a fountain, two rooftop terraces, a homemade Moroccan breakfast, air conditioning and heating, transfer and porter arranged to the door. A five-minute walk from Rcif square.

Who each suits

A riad suits travellers who want to live the medina, a human-scale stay and direct contact with the hosts. A hotel is a better fit if you have a car, travel in a large group, or need a pool and step-free access.
